Thirty questions

In between working on my assignments, I was interviewed by Mikao Walters for the third installment of her Random Interview Project. Here are interviews #1, #2, and #3. It's been fun to see my responses from over the years on her blog.

I'm still tackling my papers which explains why it's pretty much all I talk about on here. Ah, the unending adventures of a student blogger :) Thankfully, I've been involved with some kid's ministry this summer which makes for a nice change. We've been going through an excellent curriculum and yesterday, the kids learned about church planting! I never thought I would help out with children's ministry again but I think God knew I needed it for when I'd be stressed out with school.

(Haha, I accidently spelled something in French on here. Maybe there's been more of an effect than I thought!)

Here a tag, there a tag

The idea behind this one is that, when tagged, you choose 5 occupations (or more) from the list below and complete the sentence with it describing what you would do as a member of that profession. If you have more occupations to add, you add them at the bottom following in italics.

After you’re done with that, you tag 3 other people, linking to the one that tagged you as well as to Ogre’s original post.

If I could be a scientist
If I could be a farmer
If I could be a musician
If I could be a doctor
If I could be a painter
If I could be a gardener
If I could be a missionary
If I could be a chef
If I could be an architect
If I could be a linguist
If I could be a psychologist
If I could be a librarian
If I could be an athlete
If I could be a lawyer
If I could be an innkeeper
If I could be a professor
If I could be a writer
If I could be a llama-rider
If I could be a bonnie pirate
If I could be a service member
If I could be a photographer
If I could be a philanthropist
If I could be a rap artist
If I could be a child actor
If I could be a secret agent
If I could be a comedian/comedienne
If I could be a priest
If I could be a radio announcer
If I could be a phlebotomist
If I could be a pet store owner
If I could be a computer programmer
If I could be a police officer
If I could be a politician
If I could be a mom
If I could be an underwater basket weaver
If I could be a reality TV host
If I could be a forensic pathologist
If I could be a key grip on the next Star Wars film
If I could be a fairy godparent
If I could be a cast member on "Smallville"
If I could be an Airbus pilot
If I could be U2's equipment manager
If I could be a rock star
If I could be a skunk catcher
If I could be a reality TV star
If I could be a ballerina
If I could be an astronaut
If I could be a professional blogger
If I could be a teacher
If I could be a father
If I could be a professional researcher

If I could be an innkeeper, it would be an excellent opportunity for me to be hospitable and welcoming to other people, in return for how so many incredible people have helped me feel at home.

If I could be a reality TV host, I would have to be on The Amazing Race so that I could travel the world at the expense of the show and not have to take part in any of the challenges or competition.

If I could be a linguist, I would use all of the skills I've attained to help me learn more languages, so that I could spend more time conversing with people rather than being frustrated with grammar.

If I could be a rap artist, I would make sure that my words were intelligible enough that people could actually understand what I was saying.

If I could be a musician, I would use the gifts that God has given me to help inspire others to praise and worship the Father, singing and playing a new song unto Him.

I now tag Kim, Tracy, and Kyle.

Prophecy?

It's funny that when Michelle interviewed me last year, this was my response to one of her questions:

9. Pretend for a moment that you had the choice to grow up in another city, anywhere in the world. What city would you want it to have been?
I would have wanted it to be something in Québec so I could be fluent in French and still maintain my Canadian citizenship. It's the best of both worlds!

And of course, I had no idea at the time that that would be where I'd end up (eventually). All this time I was wondering where I should go, when I think I knew the answer. God has a good sense of humour.

Renewal and answers

I received my grades today for last semester and I am so ecstatic - I got all A's in my courses! Today was also the first day of a class I'm taking at a seminary with my friends. We're having a blast, and learning things that we're all passionate about. This is going to be one of the best weeks all year.

And now, to answer the questions from the meme I posted:

What is your ideal way to spend a typical free day?
I would love to read a book I've been meaning to get around to from my gigantic list, be travelling somewhere, or hang out with friends. I spent a lot of time during Christmas with friends, but not enough on reading and none on travelling!

If you could visit one place you've never been before (just for a day), where would it be?
I would love to visit Paris Montréal and magically pick up French within the span of a day and be fluent for the rest of my life :)

What has God been showing you lately and how has he been showing that to you?
God has been showing me lately that there is honour in dutifully being diligent in the little things. I am a procrastinator by nature, so I tend to neglect the little things until they spiral into bigger concerns. But God has been working on me to be obedient when I need to be, avoiding any further disasters that I get myself into. It's just like the parable with the talents - those who can be trusted with small things will eventually be trusted with greater matters. I need to keep learning that.

When did you become a Christian?
This is not quite a testimony but longer than the question intended. I grew up in a non-Christian family, not knowing anything about Jesus. I first heard about Him the summer before I started grade nine. One of my friends brought Jesus up in a conversation and she told me about His life and what Jesus meant to her. It made sense and when I received a Bible months later, I wanted to read it so much that I could have stayed up for days, devouring every single word. This was the Truth I had been searching for my whole life and through a series of witnessing firsthand God's faithfulness and love to me during grade nine, I decided to make Jesus Lord of my life, surrendering everything to the One who had changed my life forever. I love Jesus, because He first loved me, and I will follow Him no matter what the cost.

What's your favourite Bible verse?
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2

What 5 words would you use to describe your personality?
Unusual, pensive, warm, indescribable, guarded.

Enough to count for two posts

Thanks to Michelle and Coqui for this. You know, sometimes the easiest post to write is filling out a questionnaire. Yes, I'm a copier ;) I'll also be busy tomorrow so here's a long one.

Spell your name with bands/singers:
Newsboys (seen in concert)
Eisley
East West
LaRue (seen in concert)
Yo-Yo Ma

Have you ever had a song written about you? Nope.

What song makes you cry? "All I Have to Do is Dream" by the Everly Brothers.

What song makes you happy? Almost anything.

What do you like to listen to before bed? Right now, these Pure Cinema Classics CDs I got from the library.

What colour pants are you wearing right now? Green.

What song are you listening to now? "The Heart Asks Pleasure First/The Promise" from The Piano.

What taste is in your mouth? Nothing, haven't eaten in a while.

What's the weather like? It was supposed to be 22 degrees Celsius today but right now it's dark and colder.

How are you? Alright, just feeling a bit frantic because I'm behind on all my schoolwork yet I'm filling one of these out :)

Do you get motion sickness? No.

Do you have a bad habit? Cracking my knuckles.

Do you get along with your parents? Not as often as I'd like. They're stubborn, I'm equally stubborn. It makes for a lot of opinionated arguments.

Do you like to drive? Yes, but not when there are passengers in my car.

Favourite TV show? It's The District but I haven't seen it for a while.

Favourite conditioner? I don't have a favourite. I just use whatever my mom gets from the salon.

Favourite video game? Haven't played video games since I was in grade six. But if I'm beyond bored, I'll hook up my NES and pull out the good old Super Mario Brothers game.

Favourite book? The Bible. Other than that, almost anything. For fiction, I've really enjoyed Francine Rivers. For non-fiction, I've loved a ton of my college textbooks.

Favourite magazine? I read Group Magazine for a while but I especially like Videomaker Magazine and Technologies for Worship Magazine.

Favourite drink? Milk, iced tea, orange juice, ginger ale, tea, punch, water, milkshakes, etc.

Favourite thing to do on the weekend? Sleep, go to church, watch movies, hang out with friends.

Favourite band/group/singer? Starfield.

Have you broken the law? I've been forced to jaywalk by my lawbreaking friends a few times.

Have you run away from home? I thought about it once and started packing but that lasted fifteen minutes when I realized I wouldn't be able to fit everything into my backpack.

Have you ever gone skinny dipping? I'd be the last person in the world to do this.

Have you ever made a prank phone call? No, it wasn't something that was ever big with me and my friends.

Have you ever tipped over a Porta-Potty? On comedy sketches, that would be fun to do. But I've never been on a comedy sketch; therefore, no.

Have you ever used your parents' credit cards? Once.

Have you ever skipped school? I had perfect attendance in junior high school. In high school, I only skipped legitimately (excused absences I guess). Now, I skip if it's an extremely useless lecture that will not be relevant for any marks in the course.

Have you ever fallen asleep in the shower/bath? Nope. Do people other than narcoleptics do this?

Have you ever been in a school play? I was supposed to be in one, but it was cancelled. I'm glad because my teacher assigned me the role of the pretty girl's ugly cousin.

Have you ever let a friend cry on your shoulder? Yes.

Children? Nope.

Have you ever been in love? Nope.

Have you ever had a hard time getting over someone? I'm sure it's part of human nature to.

Have you ever been hurt? Of course.

Your greatest regret? Not being more disciplined when I was younger.

Do you have a job? No, but I'm looking! If anyone knows of anything...

In your MP3 player right now: I don't have an MP3 Player but I already answered this question as to what song I'm listening to.

If you were a crayon, what colour would you be? Sky blue.

What makes you happy? Fellowship. GOOD movies.

Who makes you the happiest? Jesus Christ.

What's the next CD you're gonna get? I'm currently on the "list" to get the Starfield CD next month.

Whom do you consider good friends? Lissa, whom I've known since I was four. Gozo and Mel, whom I've known since grade eleven. At school, I would say Kat and Tam. Honestly, a lot of my good friends are staff at my church. I've always found it easier to be friends with adults than kids my own age.

What do you like to do? Read, watch movies, hang out with friends, take pictures, hike, bowl (ten-pin only), go to concerts, volunteer, film or edit, worship, write, think, sleep.

When was the last time you cried? I don't remember. I cry at the strangest things so I can never expect it. I'm not a huge crier though.

When was the last time you got a real letter? I think last summer.

When was the last time you got e-mail? Sometime today.

What was the last thing you purchased? I took my mom grocery shopping.

What was the last TV program you watched? I was watching part of the hockey game before I dozed off.

What was the last movie you saw at the theatre? Jersey Girl, unfortunately. But I'll count the one before that, The Passion of the Christ. I like renting movies better.

Playlists and an alphabet of ambiguity

I downloaded Windows Media Player 9 a while ago and I just love the playlists feature. Basically, you can set it up so that it can randomly play your songs for hours and hours on end. I have about 1800 songs so it's a great way to get through study sessions.

It's no iTunes but having dialup gives absolutely no advantages for it. I wish I had an iPod though. Considering their 100 million free songs giveaway. Ahh, so that's why everyone is drinking Pepsi; I knew it had to be some sort of promotional tool ;)

I was a Mac fiend in elementary and junior high. They were the first computers I remember working on the most, and I still wish I had gotten an iBook or a PowerBook. Maybe one day in the future.

Right now, I have a million things to do including: study for midterm, read a textbook, write my annotated bibliography, and finish two quizzes.

So, I leave you with my A's to Z's:
A - Act your age: Nope.
B - Boyfriend: Never.
C - Chore you hate: Everything.
D - Dad's name: Dad.
E - Essential make up item: Nothing.
F - Favourite actor: Not sure.
G - Gold or silver: Either. Not picky.
H - Hometown: Cowtown - born and raised.
I - Instruments you play: Recorder. Wretched vocal chords.
J - Job title: Soon-to-be professional student.
K - Kids: None. Except for my life group.
L - Living arrangements: With my parents.
M - Mom's name: Mom.
N - Number of tattoos and piercings: Two.
O - Overnight hospital stays: One.
P - Phobia: Sunflowers.
Q - Quote you like: "Until you find something worth dying for, you're not really living."
